Pet Stylist - Groomer Assistant Trainer

The position is flexible - Come join as a groomer and teach OR set up training sessions for our energetic and passionate colleagues who are seeking a career as a groomer assistant and pet stylist. Workindoggz (previously The Top Dog) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and energized groomer to help us expand our grooming styles and to train others at the salon for roles as grooming assistant and or as a groomer.

We accommodate a large long term client base a week, with a retention rate high. The potential to create new and lasting relationships with clients is vast. With our excellent reputation you are set to succeed with the right talent and skill.

The Workindoggz grooming salon is located in one of three building units. The other two units are a doggie daycare/boarding facility (Workindoggz) and a veterinary practice (Gentle Care). All family owned businesses that provide a one-stop-shop experience for pet clients. Clients love the combination of services offered.

The salon is beautiful with lots of natural light. The grooming area is 1200 square feet with a lobby of equal size. The salon offers 7 grooming stations and 2 bathing stations. In addition, we provide the following groomer support:

- Front desk manager to assist with checking customers in/out, manage phone calls and scheduling of appointments.

- Provide a workstation with a supply cabinet along with shampoo, conditioners and an ever expanding client base.

- Top rated presence on social media (IG, Yelp & Google).

- Active participant in the community - will host fun fundraiser events to support local animal shelter and support groups.

- Flexible scheduling & work/life balance.

The salon is located conveniently near Hayward Bart. The neighborhood is beautiful, we boarder a commercial area but are emersed in a growing residential area. In addition, we're located just blocks from the Hayward downtown B Street businesses and ongoing social activities.

Role Requirements

Applicants must have the ability to groom all breeds. Which includes...

Trimming coat to breed standards, owner request or what is necessary for making the dog comfortable.

Ability to communicate with clients and figure out what they want in regards to their pets haircuts.

Applicant must be able to get along with a wide array of personalities while still being compassionate with our four legged clients.

Applicants must have their own equipment IE: clippers, blades, scissors, brushes, combs and grooming apparel along with the appropriate footwear that covers toes and should be slip resistant.

Having a passion for teaching and sharing grooming knowledge is a must.

Applicants should have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience.

Compensation and work hours

Pay is commission based. Appointments can be scheduled any day of the week.
