Research Associate (Bioinformatician) (Huntly Lab)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and ambitious bioinformatician to join the group of Professor Brian Huntly in the Department of Haematology and Wellcome-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (https://www.stemcells.cam.ac.uk/people/pi/huntly). Our group studies the mechanisms of transcriptional and epigenetic dysregulation that drive leukaemia and lymphoma, and how these programmes are subverted from their normal role in haematopoietic stem cells and their progeny. We combine functional and genomic experiments in experimental model systems and patient samples to identify pathological mechanisms, therapeutic targets and novel therapies (e.g. Agrawal-Singh et al, Blood, 2022; Yun et al, Nature Genetics 2021; Sasca et al, Blood 2019; Gozdecka et al, Nature Genetics 2018). We are a leading multi-disciplinary lab with substantial grant funding (e.g. recently renewed £2.2m CRUK Discovery Programme Award funding this post). We are highly productive, internationally recognised and enjoy collaborations worldwide.

Your work will involve analysis of a wide range of genomic data, including ChIP-Seq, scRNA-Seq/10X multiomics, ATAC-Seq, promoter-based capture Hi-C and capture Perturb-Seq. You will work with single cell and bulk transcriptomics, 3D DNA-DNA interaction and transcriptional/epigenetic/cis-regulatory network modelling and ideally have experience of programming, scripting and statistical data analysis. Your role in the group is highly valued, working closely with lab-based researchers and other bioinformaticians to ensure the quality of our data and analysis. We have a strong tradition of putting bioinformatics at the heart of our research with bioinformaticians often being first, co-first or significant authors on our papers (e.g. Meduri et al, iScience, 2022; Horton, Madrigal-Bayonas et al, in preparation).

You will be based in the University of Cambridge's £94m flagship Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre with purpose-built bioinformatics space, dedicated access to our High Perfomance Computing facility and a thriving bioinformatics community.

You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and experience of developing or adapting computational pipelines and developing your own bioinformatic tools. Previous analysis of relevant genomic data and work in haematopoieis and/or leukaemia/cancer biology are highly desirable.
