Bristol Medical School is seeking to appoint an IT and digital technologies specialist to manage its Clinical Academies virtual network and innovative delivery of the undergraduate medical programme supporting students whilst on clinical placement at our NHS teaching hospitals.

What will you be doing?

You will lead the development of the virtual network and innovative digital infrastructure that links the university and 9 NHS Trust Academies so that students can access their curriculum and record evidence of learning medicine whilst on clinical placement at teaching hospitals. Maintaining a high-quality student learning experience through understanding end user requirements is a key part of this role, as is enabling a range of staff including senior academics, education managers, clinical teachers and professional services staff to use a variety of digital tools and specialist applications.

The post holder will travel regularly to the Academies based at various Trusts located in the South West, from Gloucester down to Yeovil.

The post holder will work alongside members of the Faculty of Health Sciences Technology Enhanced Learning Team and the Medical Education team in a friendly and busy environment. You will be strengthening and developing networks with the other professional programmes and teams within the Faculty, wider university and at a national level to share knowledge and develop best practice.

You should apply if

  • You are an experienced IT and digital solutions professional who will be able to flourish in a busy and challenging but very rewarding role
  • You are able to think innovatively, developing and sustaining the implementation of new digital technologies and applications into a changing environment
  • You have a good eye for detail and strive to deliver excellence in every aspect of your work
  • You’re a good team player and can work effectively with staff at all levels across multiple organisations
  • You are able to take initiative and show leadership to colleagues
