Entry Level Clinical Coder

Applications are invited from conscientious, adaptable, reliable, and well-motivated individuals with a willingness to learn who can complement our coding team.Entry level coders will start on a Band 3, applications from experienced coders will be welcomed.

The work involves extracting relevant information from patient records. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, and good
logical and analytical skills are essential.

A flexible approach and excellent organisation skills are vital.
These positions will be based at Royal Derby Hospital. Following completion of initial training hybrid working will be available.
The recruitment process will involve an assessment. This will enable us to identify your aptitude for the type of work involved in clinical coding.

• Abstracting and analysing complex patient clinical information, translating into a standardised coded format applying National Clinical

Coding Rules and Conventions.

• To accurately input this information onto a computerised system, and achieve a minimum productivity level of FCE’S (Finished

consultant episodes) as set by the Clinical Coding Manager.

• Managing and prioritising workload in order to achieve strict coding deadline.
• Possess a high degree of interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with all levels of staff.
