Head of IT Project Management

Location: Hybrid - Oxford

About the role


As the Head of IT Project Management, you will be responsible for managing the organization's IT project portfolio, including planning, budgeting, and executing IT projects to meet business objectives.


You will work closely with the IT department, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure that IT projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing project management best practices and driving continuous improvement in project delivery.


As part of your key responsibilities you will:


  • Develop and implement IT project management strategies and best practices to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of IT projects to meet business objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify IT project requirements and ensure that IT solutions are aligned with business goals.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage project risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Provide regular project status reports to stakeholders, including progress against plan, budget, and forecasted outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in project delivery, including process improvement, agile methodologies, and other best practices.
  • Develop and manage project management staff, including project managers and other project management professionals.
  • Ensure that project management resources are effectively allocated and utilized across the organization.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring that they deliver services and solutions to the required quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in IT project management, including experience leading large and complex IT projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience in managing project portfolios and ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and develop project management staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
