Position Overview & Specifications

Position: Area Manager - Cleaning

Company: We are a Nationwide cleaning company with operational sites throughout England, Wales and Scotland.

Location of role: Multiple sites across Newcastle, Carlisle and York area

Pay: 28,000 per annum - negotiable upon experience

Role: We are seeking a dynamic, hard working and experienced Manager to control multiple high profile sites within a designated region.

Early mornings are essential for this position as is the flexibility to change plans at short notice.

You will be working as part of a Regional Management team with the required support network assisting in the role.

Responsibilities:

1. To assess the overall requirement of the cleaning and support services to all sites under your control and recommend appropriate courses of action to achieve best value for money.

2. To control budgets, ensuring that the correct level of resource is maintained within the agreed levels of finance, to carry out the specific duties either through direct or Subcontracted services.

3. To ensure that the correct steps have been carried out in respect of all complaints that are reported.

4. To keep reports of all reported service failures.

5. To manage all operatives, Supervisors and Site Managers

6. To set and maintain cleaning performance standards

7. To manage any contracted out service in relation to cleaning and support services activities for Clients.

8. To ensure that staff are properly organised, trained and motivated to provide the required levels of service to meet agreed Clients needs in the most cost-effective manner.

9. To ensure that all staff are fully trained and that they have the necessary skills to carry out their duties to the highest possible standard.

10. To maintain up to date training records for all staff, identifying training needs and formulating staff development programmes.

11. To plan, monitor and control budgets for cleaning, providing facility services and Area Management with information as required.

12. To achieve agreed targets and objectives on both budget and service levels.

13. To ensure that the specified services to the Client are correctly programmed, maintained and monitored.

14. In conjunction with site managers, develop a health and safety plan for staff to create a healthy and safe environment for all staff and contractors in accordance with good practice, statutory and Client requirements.

15. To ensure that all staff and contractors comply with agreed health and safety policy procedures.

16. To perform a primary function in liaison with Clients, maintaining suitable dialogue and contacts.

17. To ensure all Clients events are cleaned in conjunction with the relevant instruction

18. Ensure written procedures for all functions are in place and properly maintained and operated.

19. To meet weekly with Clients representative to discuss the implementation of Cleaning and Support Services.

20. Generally to act at all time in a competent and professional manner and hence promote the image of The Company and to carry out such other duties as may be agreed with your Director

21. To undertake any other duties which are in line with the level of duties and responsibilities of the post.

22. Recruit new site based staff, assist with interviews for Supervisor/Managers Ensure induction and skills training is delivered and probation monitored. Actively seek to maintain and improve staff morale.

23. Re-allocate and restructure work areas of staff, as appropriate to ensure the equitable allocation of work and the effective use of the workforce.

24. Provide cover for absent site based Managers and Supervisors and arrange and carryout/organise resources to deal with emergencies, e.g. Cleaning after a flood or vandalism.

25. Monitor material stock levels and ensure that adequate supplies are maintained at all times to meet budget and service requirements.

26. Review new and replacement equipment requirement, visually checking cables and plugs on equipment, promptly reporting any equipment that may require repair.

27. Ensure that all procedures and systems detailed in the Staff Handbook are in place and operational on all sites and other area’s within your responsibility.

28. Any other duties deemed appropriate to the nature of job.
