Is recruiting for the role of:
Firefighter/Handler
The London Heliport is currently looking to expand their Fire & Rescue Service, with the unique opportunity of joining their team in the role of Firefighter with additional duties.
Job Description
As part of a duty watch, the role of firefighter varies from day to day. Apart from the required training to maintain competency in firefighting, the additional duties on the Ground Handling side will require as much dedication.
These duties will include but are not limited to Marshalling, Fuelling, Passenger Handling, Winter Operations, Aircraft Safety, Aircraft Moving and Medical Response both on and off Airfield. All the while being ready to respond in under two minutes to an Emergency.
Candidates will be required to use a computer to update training and safety records.
The current shift pattern is a two week rotation, 06:30 - 19:30, with extensions up to 23:00 to cover operational requirements which includes weekends and bank holidays.
Full training will be provided and candidates who show an interest will be encouraged and supported to progress their careers.
Salary
Competitively based salary rising after probationary period.
Mandatory Requirement
- The candidate must hold either a current CAA competency-based qualification in Aviation Firefighting or the equivalent Local Authority qualification.
- Full Medical will be required before appointment.
- A good level of fitness and willing to maintain that level
- A good level of vision (eyeglasses and contact lenses may be worn however these will need to be compatible with the use of Breathing Apparatus) An opticians report may be required at the Medical Stage
- A good level of Hearing in line with functional Standards (with artificial aids where applicable)
- Full Manual Driving Licence with C1 endorsement
- Candidates must be computer literate
Desirable
- Experience of aircraft handling and fuelling.
