Position Overview & Specifications

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for a new challenge? Our client has a group of practices in the Norwich area and are looking for a dynamic Clinical Director to join their team.

There are five long-established small animal, equine and farm practices in and around Norwich with the farm practice covering East Anglia from North Norfolk down to Essex and across into Cambridgeshire. The team are the practices biggest strength, in addition to the fantastic facilities, they have to offer their clients. You will be joining a team of five Clinical Directors and over 30 vets working across all disciplines and ranging from new graduates to established senior colleagues with many years of experience and knowledge to share with the team. The group has specialist-trained colleagues and services and internal referrals for Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Dental and Orthopaedic surgery. They are currently building and developing the nursing team with a multi-disciplinary programme of role review, development, and enhancement to better support the veterinary team.

You will be joining them at an exciting time as they start to transform the business and make changes to ensure they are clinically fit and financially viable for the future. This transformation includes new ways of working, role development and enhancement and a defined clinical strategy with associated service development and development for the entire team. They are committed to developing the clinical and support teams to ensure they can meet their short, medium, and long-term goals.

You will manage and lead the practice, ensuring high standards of care and service are provided to patients and clients and so improve the sustainable profitability of the practice. Other responsibilities include;

  • Motivating staff in accordance with the core values
  • Covering the first opinion and surgical workload at the practice
  • Work as part of the clinical board with Clinical Director colleagues and the Senior Nurse Manager to define, develop and deliver the group clinical strategy

As part of the role, the candidate will provide clinical cover and support across the five practices. The candidate will be able to work their hours over 4 days per week and this will be flexible and planned with vet colleagues and the practice team. The team provide weekend cover for consulting sessions every Saturday. The salary for this role is starting from £72,000 depending on experience.

Ideally, you would have had some management or Clinical Director experience, but the role may suit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to step up and learn the skills needed for a Clinical Director position. They are very willing to support your management development if this would be advantageous. This is a busy practice with a well-established client base and a purpose-built facility. They require someone who possesses resilience, stamina, problem-solving skills, and the energy to support, lead and develop the practice and the wider group.
