Position Overview & Specifications

Job description

The Anna Freud Centre is a world-leading mental health charity for children, young people and their families. Our mission is to close the gap in wellbeing and mental health by advancing, translating, delivering, and sharing the best science and practice with everyone who impacts the lives of children, young people and their families. More information about the Anna Freud Centre is available on our website.

We value diversity and aim to have diverse workforce that reflects the community and our service users, in line with our vision, values and inclusion commitments. We encourage applications from all sections of the community.

The Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP-IAPT) is a service transformation programme that aims to improve Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and develop the workforce. The Child Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) Programme is part of this nationally funded programme and aims to train a workforce of new practitioners that offer help for common difficulties in children and young people, in particular CBT-informed evidence-based guided self-help for low to moderate intensity anxiety, low mood and behaviour problems, within a variety of community settings.

In collaboration with University College London (UCL) as the degree awarding body, the Centre is recruiting two Course Tutors to support the delivery of the CWP programme.

The Course Tutors will have responsibility for the development and delivery of two modules, ensuring all material concerning the module is up to date. They will also be expected to facilitate practice tutor groups, contributing to the training and support of CWP trainees in a variety of ways in order to develop their learning and CWP practice. The post-holders will also contribute to teaching sessions, and undertake marking and moderating of course assignments, personal tutoring and make other similar contributions to support the delivery of the programme.
The post-holders must have knowledge and experience of implementing CBT-informed interventions for low to moderate intensity anxiety, low mood and behaviour problems and experience in small group facilitation. In particular, applications from candidates with knowledge and/or lived experience to support delivery of EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) teaching content within the context of child mental health and wellbeing and/or experience working in schools and/or other educational settings would be welcomed.

Please note all our posts require candidates to have the Right to Work in the UK at the time of applying and we do not hold a sponsorship license.

Location
Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): the delivery of the teaching and Practice Tutor Groups will be face-to-face at our London office (King’s Cross – 4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH) and occasionally remote/online (some flexibility will be necessary should circumstances change). It will be essential for the post holders to work from the London office on Friday’s during term time.

Contract duration
There are two positions available: One on a permanent basis and one will be a maternity cover until September 2023.

Closing date for applications
Midday (12pm), Wednesday 1 March 2023.

Notification of interview
Shortlisted applicants will be notified no later than Tuesday 7 March 2023.
Please note due to volume of applications expected, we will be unable to notify unsuccessful candidates.

Interviews
Interviews will be held on Friday 10 March 2023.
