Saffron Walden Almshouses is looking for a new Chair of the Board.

Rolled up sleeves needed!

Providing much needed housing for Saffron Walden residents of modest means and on a low income, irrespective of their age, our Almshouses Charity is looking for a new Chair of the Board of Directors to lead us over the next few years. A volunteer role, we’re looking for someone who will help us develop and lead our strategic vision, whilst at the same time being prepared to roll up their sleeves; this is very much a hands-on role.

So, if there’s no pay, what’s the reward? That comes from leading a group of dedicated trustees and small staff team who between them make sure our residents are well supported, our buildings are up to scratch and our finances are secure. We also plan to replace one of our buildings that is no longer fit for purpose with a new, purpose-built unit. At the same time, we need to up our profile locally – and our new chair will have a significant role in this work.
