Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for an Assistant Product Manager to join our Product Management team – This is a Permanent role. If you are enthusiastic and motivated in working within an organisation that is externally aware and focused on customers, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role with experience of system/product integration and software development activities. This is a fast-paced environment, so it is essential that you can manage a changing list of priorities.

This position is remote.

Purpose of the role:

This role is for our communications portfolio, providing mission-critical voice and digital capabilities for our customers, both as stand-alone solutions, also integrated with other products within the portfolio.
As the internal and external voice, the Product Manager will be the Product evangelist, ultimately responsible for ensuring the products under your ownership are able to deliver profitable revenue and growth to SSS in line with the business strategy

This role reports into the Software Product Manager for the organisation.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the day-to-day management of the product portfolio. This includes being the single point of contact for product related queries through to ensuring problems are prioritised, triaged, and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ownership of the day-day maintenance of the product portfolio. This includes the production of product change requests (RFC’s), liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely capture of detailed user requirements.
  • Responsible for the continuous evolution of the product portfolio by producing product change requests (RFCs) to support bids, tenders, upgrade proposals including solution definition, response generation and collation of cost estimates where current product(s) do not meet the customer requirement.
  • Liaises with Software Delivery Managers to manage and prioritise sprints ensuring alignment to wider product strategy, bid timescales and customer expectations.
  • Responsible for all marketing communications including the production of product marketing collateral, creation of customer newsletters and all other promotional materials.
  • Manages customer engagement through directly liaising with and managing customer user groups.

Our ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Demonstrable experience in Product Management Governance and Lifecycle Management processes including planning, change control and risk management.
  • Demonstrable experience in Product Management in a customer facing role.
  • Practical experience of working with modern software development methodologies, tooling, and processes.
  • Experience of system /product integration and software development activities.
  • Extensive practical experience of product managing voice and digital communications (or similar solutions) for the Emergency Services or other Public Sector bodies.
  • A technical background due to the complexity of the solutions involved is desirable.
  • Due to the nature of the work undertaken by SSS, relevant security clearances such as SC, NPPV L3 and relevant customer specific clearances will be needed.
