Camera Operator and Editor

Do you love sports? Are you keen to develop your skills as a camera operator and video editor? Sharp Focus is a small production company based in South London primarily focussed on creating short-form, documentary-style content for some of the leading governing bodies of sport in the UK, including the ECB, UK Sport, and England Hockey. We create sports content at various levels, from grassroots all the way to elite level. This means some days we could be interviewing the likes of Mo Farah, Jofra Archer, or Steve Borthwick, and on others we could be filming an U-15 wicket keeping session at your local club.

As a member of the Sharp Focus team you will be involved in all aspects of production and post production, giving you the opportunity to develop a range of skills as a film maker/story teller.

You may also have chance to travel with the company, whether that be going to Ireland to film a documentary on the DNA of Ireland Cricket, or travelling with the England Lions to their training camp in Dubai, to give two recent examples.

Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in Adobe suite (crucially Premiere Pro)
• Minimum 2 year’s relevant experience
• Skilful and creative editor
• Competent using cinema grade cameras, and DSLRs
• Ability to take a programme from concept to delivery
• Accomplished cameraperson
• Strong lighting skills
• Full clean driving license
• Salary range, subject to expertise and experience, £23k-£27k

Personal qualities are also crucial. We’re looking for someone bright, energetic, ambitious, able to think on their feet and problem solve quickly and efficiently – and a team player too.
Someone who will cheerfully “go the extra mile” to get things spot on, and to get them done on time. Someone who will care deeply enough about the programmes we make for our clients that they swiftly develop an understanding of the subject matter and of their needs.
