Delivery & Logistics Driver

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, forward thinking logistics driver and planner to join our busy Sales & Logistics team in Burgess Hill, Mid Sussex. Ruby’s Bakery Ltd are a family run wholesale bakery providing cakes and sweet treats to garden centres, independent shops and other businesses.

We are looking for someone that can work well within a team, to deliver to and build up existing client bases as well as plan routes and communicate effectively.

The ideal candidate would have a passion for customer service, as well as being friendly, approachable, flexible and able to use their own initiative, they would need strong time management, attention to detail and organisational skills and be able to think creatively and problem solve.

Responsibilities include:

• Contacting existing customers to build and maintain relationships
• Upselling products to current client base
• Processing orders, invoices, credits and managing outstanding balances
• Route planning to maximise efficiency
• Driving to clients on a daily basis, (some distance driving involved)
• Supervising and managing own workloads
• Providing excellent customer service
• Stock control and rotation, including communicating with production on stock requirements
• Supporting our Bakery production team when required

Requirements:

• Ability to sell effectively and maximise profit
• Computer literacy skills
• Knowledge of Sage or similar systems preferred
• Food industry experience would be a bonus
• Clean drivers Licence with confident ability to drive a van (Citroen Relay sized van) and comfortable using a sat nav. This job involves a lot of driving, so you must be comfortable with this too.
• Ability to route plan efficiently and understand transportation issues and limitations.
• Competent decision making
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
