Position Overview & Specifications

QinetiQ has ambitious plans for growth underpinned by an ongoing strategy to build an integrated global defence and security company. To support these aims QinetiQ has a long term programme of transformational change to deliver strategic enabling capabilities across the company. The programme is led by the Group Director Transformation within the Enterprise Services Function, and they develop the strategy and lead the transformation change projects or programmes throughout the organisation, influencing and engaging senior leaders to deliver the agreed outcomes.

The Transformation Programme Manager is one of two programme manager roles that support the Group Director Transformation in the planning, coordination, and implementation of these goals working with Group Functions and operating Sectors to realise strategic benefits.

The Transformation Programme Manager is required to act as a QinetiQ leader first and foremost, working with senior stakeholders across the company, supporting the Sectors and Functions to develop our organisation. This is an important programme leadership position focused on driving change and transformation, and will be a key contributor to projects that improve business performance, process effectiveness, and employee engagement.

Key accountabilities

Manage interdependencies across transformation workstreams and the Digital and Data Programme to ensuring alignment and effectiveness of delivery across the company.

Deliver workstreams to refine internal global processes, working across operating Sectors and Group Functions, to improve organisational effectiveness and efficiency.

Implement the appropriate governance activities required to demonstrate control of the transformation outcomes and to facilitate good decision making practices at pace.

Create and manage programme artefacts, including MS Project plans, risk registers, Programme Management Plans, and QinetiQ Operating Model documents on behalf the Group Transformation Director.

Task the internal communications team to ensure the appropriate communications and information flows to support the transformation aims and delivery of benefits.

Role model the QinetiQ values and behaviours to enable a collaborative business environment.

Communication skills: being able to effectively communicate as part of a two-way interaction, using a range of techniques, to ensure the received meaning matches the transmitted meaning.

Stakeholder Management: being able to identify, plan and implement actions to positively engage parties with an interest in, or influence over, the Transformation outcomes.

Change Management: being able to develop and enact a structured approach to organisational change in support of QinetiQ’s vision, overcoming resistance to change from the impacted people.

Industry: Understanding of the Defence & security industry and the issues and opportunities it faces, in areas such as technology, data and business change.

Experience & qualifications

Experience and understanding of Project & Programme management including tools and practices.

Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, and influencing skills.

Must be a clear and articulate communicator and have professional poise and presence with a diverse set of audiences, with the ability to partner across all levels.

Demonstrated experience working with multi-skilled teams on projects to deliver robust programmes.

Minimum of 2 years experience either leading a complex project or global in scale, or leading programmes or having a significant role in their success.
