Position Overview & Specifications
We have a fantastic opportunity for a receptionist to join our team at Portchester Vets. You will be working alongside our amazing reception team.
We are a busy village practice in the heart of Portchester looking to expand our ever-growing business to support our current team.
The main responsibility of the role is to be the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, whilst demonstrating a professional and knowledgeable impression to promote the practice and give confidence to our clients. Other duties include:
- Welcoming clients to the practice, taking payments and organising follow up appointments as necessary.
- Answering the telephone, booking appointments, answering queries and taking medication requests as well as weighing patients.
- Completing call backs to clients for missed calls or missed appointments to answer questions or re-book as required.
- Keeping client and patient records up to date on our practice management system
- Administrative work including scanning documents, checking emails and assisting with insurance claims.
- Liaising with the Nurses and Vets to answer questions from clients and help them with their pet’s care.
- Keeping clients educated and actively promote pet health care plans and pet insurance where necessary
- Keeping the reception area and consult rooms clean and tidy.
Suitability for the role:

- Good IT Skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Cash/payment experience helpful
- Some previous experience within the industry would be an advantage
- Good team player

Salary: £7.30-£9.50 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Fareham, PO16 9AY: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Veterinary Receptionist: 1 year (preferred)
- Customer Service: 1 year (preferred)
