Position Overview & Specifications

Why Patients Need You
Here at Pfizer we have a specific purpose – to find breakthroughs that change patients' lives. We are a patient-centric company, guided by our four values: courage, joy, equity and excellence.
Our Analytical Research and Development function (ARD) plays a critical role in transforming patients’ lives around the world by supporting the research, development, and manufacture of medicines for studies at all phases of clinical development. As part of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Worldwide R&D, we deliver manufacturing processes that support clinical trials, and help to bring new medicines to market quickly. ARD is responsible for the development and integration of process analytical technology to produce drug products in both continuous and batch processes.
What You Will Achieve
You will apply your knowledge of Process Analytical Technology (PAT), analytical sciences and machine learning and/or chemometrics to the development of Pfizer’s small molecule R&D portfolio. As a PAT specialist, you will be in the centre of a multi-disciplinary team involving analysts, formulators, process modellers, and chemical engineers from across Pfizer R&D and manufacturing organisations. You will play a key role in the implementation of Pfizer’s strategy to deliver continuous development and manufacturing approaches for investigational new drugs.
You’ll be operating in a fast-paced environment, and your personal journey will be actively supported, to help you grow as a leader. Whether you choose to develop as an expert in a specific area, to extend your influence into related scientific and technical disciplines, or to take a business-oriented route into the wider Pfizer family outside of Pharmaceutical Science, you’ll find a workplace culture that helps you to develop and fulfil your aspirations.
How You Will Achieve It
You will

  • Help to establish the effective operation of a new GMP continuous manufacturing facility.
  • Work in a global organisation, by interacting with counterparts at different locations working on similar platforms and systems.
  • Support the application of new and existing PAT methodologies to enable the development and transfer of processes to GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop automated data analysis solutions for continuous and batch manufacturing platforms.
  • Mentor and collaborate with peers.
  • Interact with, and present effectively to management and senior management.
  • Engage with the external scientific community through publications and presentations.
  • Apply PAT methodologies to support the validation of existing and novel continuous drug product manufacturing platforms.
