Due to growth, we are looking to expand within our Mechanical Design Department. We are looking to appoint an experienced multi-disciplined Mechanical Design Engineer who will be working as part of our highly skilled Mechanical Design Department. You will be working as a team to complete the design, development and build of bespoke test solutions for the company’s expanding client base within the Test Automation Industry.

This diverse role will require an individual with proven mechanical design disciplines as he/she will be involved with the conceptual mechanical design of complete test systems and their subsequent manufacture. The role incorporates design, component specification and project logistics responsibilities i.e. commissioning and integration.

The position will call for experience in the use of relevant software (e.g. Solid Edge). You will need excellent IT skills, as the requirement to design and generate 3D CAD models, mechanical part drawings and assembly drawings, will be a key feature of the role. The right candidate must also possess good communication skills for customer presentation/liaison purposes.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

· Initial meetings with customers to gather requirements
· Investigate potential solutions
· Communicate with customers and other engineers to clarify requirements / meet specifications
· Assist with quote / proposal generation
· Technically lead projects
· Generate mechanical design specifications for team members.
· Provide technical guidance and review to other team members
· Work closely with manufacturing department to inform and answer queries during assembly/test stages

The ideal candidate will:

·Proficient in using mechanical 3D CAD software (Solid Edge, Solid Works, Creo etc)

· Good planning skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Experience in working on mechanical design projects end to end.

· Experience in innovating new concepts and carrying them through from idea to product.

· Multi-disciplined – have expertise in different areas of design i.e pneumatic, robotics, mechanisms, automation etc.

· Ideally Degree/HND/HNC, but not essential.

Salary: £40,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
