Position Overview & Specifications

We are looking for a customer focused High Street Sales Administrator to join our UK High Street team. You will have a passion for books across all ages and for supporting all booksellers on the high street including independents, WHSmith and Waterstones.

Your role would include supporting the Sales Managers on everything from presentations to buyers, to submitting title grids for promotions and engaging with booksellers on email, social media and in person.

You’ll need excellent attention to detail and be a proactive self starter who loves a challenge as well as variety in their work. It is a fun environment full of passionate people.

Key tasks will include managing retailer grids, creating financial claims, placing orders for booksellers and events, and dealing with adhoc queries. You will also support the Children’s Sales Director.

You will work with our High street team and Regional Sales Managers as well as our trade marketing, editorial and distribution teams. Building strong relationships internally is key to this role.

The successful candidate will have the following skills & knowledge -

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of UK retail especially high street booksellers
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workload
  • Able to multitask and work under tight deadlines
  • Numeracy skills and problem solving
  • Strong and effective communication skills

Required Experience -

  • Ideally experience working for a publisher or high street bookseller
  • Knowledge of the book market across Adult trade and Children’s
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience of managing complicated processes and spreadsheets
  • Good Excel skills
