About us

If you are looking for a large-scale challenge, then this role at Oxfordshire County Council may be precisely what you're seeking. Currently in the midst of a bold venture to support the creation of up to 100,000 new homes, re-shape infrastructure and devise transport solutions that will make active travel and electric cars the norm, we have a £multi-million investment plan in place that will transform Oxfordshire's potential.

Due to innovative joint-initiatives between the private and the public sector, this scheme is expected to run until at least 2031, providing an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of a county-wide challenge. And as the UK's 12th fastest-growing city, it's a challenge that we are determined to deliver. Join us, and you could be central to this fascinating work.

The Programme Management Office (PMO) sits within Environment & Place directorate and supports the delivery of a half a billion-pound plus capital infrastructure programme over the coming years.

About the role

You will be employed through Oxfordshire County Council having an oversight of the infrastructure programmes schemes and supporting Project Managers and Programme Leads with accurate reporting and keeping project information up to date.

You will ensure standards are maintained to reduce costs and minimise risks. You will be asked to provide support information so decisions can be made. You will report, track and ensure schemes are managed in a controlled way. The PMO team will make sure that the Council's Governance and Compliance standards are applied to processes.

This role can offer flexibility in working pattern and location to suit applicants. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds.

About you

We are seeking an organised individual with sound knowledge of programme and project management and business processes. You will work closely with the Infrastructure Delivery Team, Scheme officers and Leadership team on several large-scale projects, ensuring that projects are reported on accurately in terms of overall timing, budget and deliverables. A very good understanding of excel and other MS Office suite products is key.

This role is ideally suited to a motivated, confident individual, with self-starter capabilities, comfortable at working alone as well as part of a team.
