Spinal cord injury - C4, Autonomic
Dysreflexia -
mostly at night, Self-ventilating, slight
respiratory compromise, cough assist PRN, bowel
care
(alternate days), suprapubic catheter
(changed by DN every month), passive physio
(daily) and
structured day.

CARE REQUIREMENTS:
JB needs staff to be able to attend to his personal
care and elimination needs
JB needs staff to be able to cook his meals
JB would like staff to be able to drive his Motability
car, so that they can go out together
JB needs staff to position him in the bed and
wheelchair
JB needs staff to have an understanding or
willingness to learn about Autonomic Dysreflexia

Duties – FOR HCA/CSW

- Assisting of core general healthcare assistant duties such as moving and handling and basic life support.
- Helping to provide comfort, interaction and companionship.

Requirements for HCA’s:

- MUST be hardworking and adaptable by responding quickly to changes
- MUST be passionate about high quality individual and teamwork
- MUST have a current DBS (inside a year or on the update service)
- Bowel care – manual evacuation
- Suprapubic catheter
- Manual handling – ceiling hoist
- Driving Licence
