We are a small, yet busy contract furniture manufacturer producing quality batch and bespoke furniture, for offices, universities, churches, and hotels.
We require a factory based, powder coating assistant and furniture assembly operative. The successful candidate will ideally have a good knowledge and experience of assembling products and operating power and hand tools. The ability to produce accurate, high-quality work at an acceptable rate of output, working within a small team is essential.
Powder coating preparation, furniture assembly and general duties will include:
- Operating , sanding, and finishing equipment.
- Lifting and handling steel furniture parts on and off powder coating trolleys.
- Assisting with the assembly of furniture products in the factory.
- Packing products ready for dispatch.
- Loading and unloading vehicles as required.
- Fetching and carrying components and finished products as instructed.
- Assisting colleagues where additional labour is required.
- Delivering and collecting parts from local sub-suppliers, so full driving licence essential.
- Immediately report all discovered damage or faults in components, or finished product, to a supervisor.
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers.
- Maintain high standard of factory cleanliness and housekeeping.
- Report all accidents/incidents immediately.
- Follow all safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
Additional skills/capabilities that would be useful:
- The ability to drive and operate a forklift for loading and unloading vans and lorries would be an advantage, with the appropriate license to do so.
- 1st Aider would be a bonus.
A flexible attitude is sought along with a practical hands-on approach, and a team player in a busy, but small factory environment.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £10.50-£11.00 per hour
