Apprentice (Electrician)

Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial, and domestic environments. They make sure electrical equipment works correctly and safely.
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will join Durham County Councilβs highly skilled Building and Facilities Maintenance team, and you will have the opportunity to develop the skills and competencies to be able to assist in the provision of an Electrical Service
Your day-to-day duties will include supporting the Electrical Managers, and wider team, with electrical installation and maintenance, as well as promoting and developing working practices and procedures to improve the Health and Safety culture. You will ensure compliance with standards, policies and procedures and promote the service to both existing and potential customers. We will support you as you study towards an Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3.
Entry requirements
What will I need?
You must either have or expect to achieve 3 GCSEβs grade 9-4/A*-C in English, Maths and a Science subject, or an equivalent qualification, together with good communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will study towards an Installation and Maintenance Electrician Level 3 with New College Durham.
