Security Officer

Job Overview

• We are currently looking for security officers for a large and busy location in Stanford-le-Hope Essex. The site is currently undergoing a major expansion and development plan set to make it one of the largest and busiest shipping ports in the country.

  The security is proudly supplied by a team from the Mitie aviation department. Providing round the clock protection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year. current rate of pay £11.31 per hour

  The team which consists of over 50 officers ranging from mobile patrol Response Officers through to CCTV controllers work 12 hour shifts on a four on four off rotation made up of a combination of days and nights, with the opportunity for overtime.

  As the port expands so does the team. With further shipping berths being built, a busy rail link and a commercial industrial park containing some of the most largest and well known distribution centres in the area it is very rare to have a quiet and inactive day. As a result recruitment for such a stimulating and exciting site is often challenging, as regular joint operations with external agencies such as the local police force requires the team to constantly be at the top of their game

Main Duties

• Ensure the fast and professional processing of visitors to the terminal in accordance with site procedures
• Provide effect entry and egress control through effective pass checking/issuing, including the searching of persons and vehicles & plant machinery
• Conduct effective searches on container lorries in compliance with DfT and site procedures
• Ensure effective checks on personal and vehicle passes are carried out at all locations.
• Provide escorts to visitors/contractors
• Ensure that all supplied equipment is checked and maintained in a serviceable condition
• Carryout effective patrols to maintain the integrity of the restricted area
• Assist in the covering of gaps/holidays within the core teams and during increases in security levels
