Position Overview & Specifications

The role involves working as part of the Breast Screening administration team, providing clerical support to ensure the delivery of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) Consolidated Standards and providing support to the symptomatic breast imaging service at Kettering General Hospital.

The post holder will be a key member of the breast screening team and support the achievement of our Excellence Values.

To provide clerical support to the NHS Breast screening Programme (NHSBSP) alongside administrative duties relating to the symptomatic breast imaging service at Kettering General Hospital.

Duties will include;

  • Booking appointments via telephone, letter and email
  • Data Audit

  • To support the Breast Screening team with accurate data input and data management to support the delivery of the NHSBSP and symptomatic imaging referrals.
  • Answer the telephone to deal with bookings, changes of appointments and queries for screening and symptomatic breast imaging and referring on as necessary.
  • Assist in the monitoring and scheduling of surveillance mammograms and symptomatic imaging requests and results.
  • Deal with emails from stakeholders.
  • The use of relevant computer programmes including NBSS, CRIS, Careflow & PACS.
  • Computer skills including Ofice 365, MS word, excel, and outlook.
  • Manage and prioritise own workload within service needs.
  • Preparation and data audit of screening and symptomatic clinics.
  • Recording and processing attendance and non-attendance on the breast screening database and CRIS radiology system.
  • Checking and posting appointment and results letters.
  • Maintain efficient filing system, processing films for culling.
  • Send weekly reports of screening results to GP’s
  • Assist in the requesting and sending of previous films and digital images.
  • Support with the management and updates to the SMS system and webpages.
  • Work within the protocols of the department's Quality Management System.
  • Undertake such training as is deemed necessary by the Programme Co-ordinator, in accordance with the Breast Screening Programme.
  • Attend departmental meetings as necessary and be actively involved in the improvement of the service.
Any other duties or tasks that may reasonably be deemed to come within the scope of the post.
