Job Profile – Kent LPC Service Development Manager

Job Title: Service Development Manager

Accountable to: Kent LPC Committee

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer for Kent LPC

Job Purpose: To liaise with commissioners and provide support to Contractors, the LPC Committee and the Chief Executive Officer of the LPC on any development and implementation of pharmacy services (national, contractual, enhanced, local services etc). To use various methods of communication (including social media) to engage contractors and to publicize services and to build relationships.

Key Responsibilities: To take direction from, and work collaboratively with the Kent LPC, its members and contractors to promote and enhance:

  • Service Delivery
  • Deliver the Kent LPC strategic plan with regards to service provision and delivery.
  • Create a service summary for the LPC as well as a gap map of services that are missing and liaise with commissioners and contractors of how we can increase service provision.
  • Engage with NHS England, ICBs, Local Authorities, STP’s and any other commissioning bodies to enable the best service specifications for local or national service delivery in Community Pharmacy.
  • Liaise with Contractors to optimize the efficient delivery of services and ensure payments are claimed. Resolve any relevant queries and issues around service delivery.
  • Liaise with Commissioners on an ongoing basis to maintain optimal level of service delivery.
  • Work with LPC Committee and its officers to ensure clear communication pathways are in place.
  • Ensure details of all service level agreements are communicated to the LPC team and onward to contractors.
  • Work with Local Authorities to determine Pharmaceutical Needs Assessments and ensure supplementary statements are issued as appropriate.
  • Engage and communicate with stakeholders across Kent to develop and maintain a “Monthly Deadline Tracker” for contractors.
  • Support communication and delivery of the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS).
  • Develop a quarterly update on service performance to contractors.
  • Create essential guides for services to support Contractors to optimise remuneration and quality of patient care.
  • Training
  • Be responsible for organising and managing training for service provision across Kent.
  • Outward facing contractor support and training.
  • LPC Support
  • Work with the team to deliver the Kent LPC strategic plan for the Committee.
  • STP/ICS work and service development which involves designing the service, writing specifications, training pharmacies etc.

  • Familiarity with the health and social care landscape

  • Knowledge of Community Pharmacy

Experience of working in or knowledge of community pharmacy is essential. The post is open to Registered Pharmacists only with a minimum of 4 years post registration experience.

  • Communication and presentation skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as you will be required to brief community pharmacy contractors and stakeholders in a range of meetings and through a variety of communication channels.

Excellent IT skills including proficient knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
