Training and Competence Manager - Marine and Environmental services

Salary- £45,000 and excellent benefits package

An excellent opportunity has opened up for a Training and Competence Manager, ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their career. Our client is a leading provider of marine and environmental services, specialising in port and marine operations, subsea and environmental support and vessel charter.

The role is responsible for devising and delivering the training strategy and the maintaining of a training programme that combined meets the industry technical competencies and HSE regulatory requirements with the overall aim being to reduce the risk of human error through effective training of our personnel.

The Training and Competence Manager also develops, maintains, and delivers a training Plan and budget that leads to continuous improvement and anticipates the business requirement. This role also acts as the Training quality assurance Lead.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with the HSEQ department to ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policies, associated site safety regulations and good industry practice.
  • Be pro-active with the Company Safety Management System and demonstrate safe working practices during all working activities.
  • Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets
  • To develop and roll out bespoke internal training including train the trainer
  • Develop bespoke departmental & individual training plans whilst reporting regularly on the status and health of departmental training
  • Develop training KPIs, identifying and managing delivery of to allow benchmarking of training performance
  • Manage the electronic Learning Management System for the tracking & monitoring of training records
  • Ensure activities meet and integrate with, organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal compliance, environmental policies, and general duty of care
  • Work with Operation and departmental managers utilising a risk-based approach to identify training requirements & to develop departmental competence assurance process
  • Identify, select and manage external training providers based on sound criteria appropriate standards

Do you have?

  • Knowledge of marine environment (preferred not essential)
  • Experience within a Training Supervisory/Management role
  • Experience in the delivery of Health & Safety training
  • Experienced in the development and implementation of competence systems
  • Experience dealing with education providers, registered training organisations, skill services organisations, etc.
  • UK Driving licence required
