Role: Digital Forensic Analyst

Department: Specialist (SPEC)

Scale: SO1

Salary: £31,434 - £33,348

Location: Priory Road, Hull - The post will be eventually relocated to Melton 2 Police Station

Hours: 37 hours

Contract: Permanent

We are recruiting for a Digital Forensic Analyst! This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has experience in either an investigative or IT based background and is looking to use their expertise to support and safeguard the public.

The main focus of the role is to provide the Force resource for the recovery, analysis and production of digital related evidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recovers, analyses and produces evidence from computers, mobile phones and related devices in accordance with national guidelines.
  • Produces reports and statements in respect of the analysis carried out on exhibits.
  • Liaises with other agencies as appropriate to exchange relevant information and best practice.
  • Attends court in order to present evidence regarding analysis of digital devices when required.
  • Attends mobile computer and mobile phone related training courses to an advanced level.
  • Maintains and updates case management systems to ensure that case activity and exhibit continuity is recorded in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensures that work complies with ISO accredited standards.
  • Due to the nature of the work undertaken by DFU, the successful candidate will require physical and emotional resilience to be able to deal with material of a distressing nature including Child Sexual Abuse Imagery on a regular basis.

Skills and experience:

  • Must have a good understanding of Windows based operating systems.
  • Will have previously worked in an IT related field or have a demonstrable knowledge in the related fields of programming, networks, server/storage, systems admin or similar.
  • Has a good working knowledge of computer and mobile device operating systems.
  • Is sensitive to the wishes and views of others and is able to display tact and diplomacy.
  • Has the ability to inspire confidence and respect.
  • Is able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing bearing the needs of the recipient in mind.
  • Is able to collate and analyse large amount of information.
  • Be able to set objectives in relation to work load and is able to plan and prioritise accordingly.
  • Has access to transport.
