Bar Back (Part Time)

BAR BACK - New Opening

Launching July 2023 - Casual luxury with a distinctly London personality, effortlessly shifting from work to fun. The Bar is an all-day experience situated within the London Hilton on Park Lane, one of the cities most preeminent locations. Featuring classically inspired cocktails, exceptional coffee and a food menu encompassing playful takes on iconic dishes. A place to meet, work, eat, drink and play.

Salary: PS12 per Hour plus annual service charge anticipated in the region of PS2500

This is a Part Time role for 24 hours a week

JOB OVERVIEW

Barbacks are assisting in the preparation, replenishing and clean-up of the bar and all necessary supplies and stock before, during and after service to facilitate exceptional customer experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Barback, you will:

1.Exceptional Customer Experiences

  • Welcome customers to build rapport and create a great first impression
  • Know your menus and recipes in detail, so you can prepare the bar, replenish the stock, and refill operating supplies accordingly following the bar's standard
  • Make sure that food allergies and dietary requirements are treated with absolute seriousness
  • Communicate effectively with the bar and service team so that all orders are correct, well-presented and delivered on time
  • Aim to exceed every guest's expectations, ensure to consistently offer high quality service
  • Recognise repeat customers and their preferences, offering personalised customer service

2.Great Working Environment

  • Work with the rest of the team to make sure operations run smoothly, contributing to a supportive, inclusive and motivational working environment for all Team Members.

3.Day-To-Day Essentials

  • Make sure that you strictly comply with all regulations and standards, including health, safety and hygiene.
  • Set up your section for service, and make sure that equipment, guest areas and work areas are clean and tidy throughout the shift
  • Make sure that you record all transactions in the POS system accurately at the time of order, that billing is accurate and that cash handling complies with hotel guidelines
  • Stock and replenish inventory and supplies
  • Maintain bar equipment and machinery to the highest standards, coordinating the maintenance schedule and records
  • Give feedback and suggestions to the bar leadership team to improve customer and team member experiences

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We're looking for someone with a passion for bars, and the ambition to build a career in mixology.

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Customer focus, maintaining the highest standards of authentic service to create memorable guest experiences every time
  • Excellent communication skills to create connections with diverse customers and share information clearly
  • High attention to detail, to get orders right every time
  • Great teamwork and a positive attitude
  • Ability to build good relationships with coffee suppliers and equipment maintenance teams
  • Flexibility and adaptability, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and focused under pressure
  • Curiosity in the latest beverage and food trends, in how these are blended into the menu, and in sharing these with guests using a suggestive sales approach
  • Sustainability cautious, following best practices and taking pride telling product and supplier stories

You will also be fluent in English. A good knowledge of POS systems would be an advantage.

USEFUL TO KNOW:

This position is part-time (24h per week) and will require working weekend and evening shifts.Position requirements also include being able to stand for hours and the ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
