About Heads of Ayr Farm Park

Heads of Ayr Farm Park is an award-winning tourist attraction situated in Ayr, with over 80 species of animals from farmyard favourites to endangered species. Every year we see around 180,000 visitors, made up of local families, tourists, school groups and coach trips. We are voted the #1 Favourite Thing to Do in Ayrshire on Trip Advisor and have won multiple awards, from the Scottish Thistle Award's Best Visitor Attraction, to 'Best for Young Children' on the Day Out With The Kids Family Favourite Awards.

Our mission statement is to "strive to provide families with a safe, exciting, and educational day out" and it is important to us that all of our staff work together to achieve our mission and sell our ethos in a fun and welcoming environment. Heads of Ayr Farm Park is not your typical workplace!

About the Role

Heads of Ayr Farm Park is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hard working and friendly person with lots of initiative to help with some general administration work and plan/oversee the popular Farm Park themed events. The job will involve both working outdoors with the public as well as being in an office environment, and will provide lots of variety each day. No two days are ever the same! Our events are a huge part of the Park experience so attention to detail and a fun, can-do attitude are a must for this role. This is a seasonal position until at least October, with the potential of longer employment for the right candidate. The successful candidate will work at least 3 days per week in this role (generally 8:30am - 5:30pm) which must include one weekend day. There is potential for full-time work with extra days worked across other departments.

Some of the daily duties required of this role include:

  • Overseeing the special events alongside the office team
  • Liaising with other departments to ensure events run smoothly
  • Dealing with telephone, email, and in-person enquiries
  • Making up and sending invoices and receipts
  • Record and assist with schools, nurseries, and group bookings
  • Assisting with the planning and set-up of special events
  • Assist with cash uplifts and change runs throughout the day
  • Snapping pictures and videos for the park's social media

Full training will be provided to the successful candidate. The start date for this position is flexible based on the right candidate's schedule, but ideally would begin before the park opens fully for the summer season on the 18th March to jump right into planning for Easter weekend!

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Have some basic admin experience with Microsoft Office or similar
  • Be friendly and bubbly! We need you to demonstrate excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage with the public on a daily basis
  • Have a valid UK Driver’s License - this is due to our rural location with limited public transport links.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team towards a common goal
  • Enjoy a flexible working environment and turning your hand to lots of varied tasks
  • Have some relevant experience working in the events industry or planning big projects
  • Be available to work at least one weekend day

If you are interested in this position, candidates should submit a relevant and up to date CV, along with a detailed cover letter informing us of your availability and why you are interested in this role. If you require any more information, please don't hesitate to contact the office on 01292 44120.
