Park Cakes is a c£180 million business which manufactures cake and desserts to supply the own brand products of major retailers. These vacancies are at our Oldham site, full training will be given for these roles, you don’t need any experience but some work experience in a factory or warehouse is preferred.

Example Duties

You will work on a production line carrying out a number of manual duties this may involve:

• Packing and decorating cakes
• Keeping factory areas clean
• Ensuring the quality of cakes

Or for skilled roles:

• Enrobing chocolate this is a job where temperatures/weights other items will be required to be recorded
• Mixing Cream against quantities required vs recipe and ensuring correct temperatures/quantities
• Basic tasks to ensure machines operate correctly for wrapping machines/other kit
• Liaising with other Departments/stores

Skills and Experience

• Ideally some experience of working in factories or distribution
• Highly flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment
• Conscientious and pays attention to detail, willing to learn and work within a team

Shift Pattern

• The shift pattern is an 8 week pattern starting on a Sunday, so you work 4 shifts then have the next 4 shifts off, this continues for 8 weeks, on the 9th week you start the pattern again on the Sunday.
• The hours are 6am to 5pm, or an average of 37 hours and 20 mins a week. You will have one 30 minute paid break and one 20 min unpaid break each day, the full 8 week shift pattern is as follows.
• Some roles are skilled so will start and finish an hour earlier at 5am to 4pm and will pay a higher Advanced rate and extra premium.
• We pay an average weekly wage so the wage is consistent every week, you will receive pay according to grade: –
• Days Advanced: £380.23 currently or from 1st April 2023 £414.58 per week and for a 4 on 4 off pattern starting at 5am we pay an additional £20 per week.
• Days Standard: £374.64 currently, or from 1st April 2023 £408.98 per week

Rate of Pay & Terms :

• 20 days holiday a year and 180 rest days a year, Bank holidays are a normal working day depending on whether you are rota or not
• Days Advanced Grade : £380.23 currently then £414.58 per week from 1st April 2023
• Days Standard Grade : £374.64 currently then £408.98 per week from 1st April 2023
• Hours are 5am to 4pm for skilled roles or 6am to 5pm for non skilled roles.
• Contributory Pension scheme

Please note:

For training purposes you will be required to go on to a Monday to Friday Day shift probably 6am – 2pm Monday to Thursday and 6am to 1pm on a Friday for a number of weeks which will pay a 5 day shift rate before the 1st April of £334.88 (Standard) or £340.16 per week advanced. This will be for approximately 2 to 6 weeks depending on the role.
