Position Overview & Specifications

Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant

· Role location: Oldham (OL8)

· Salary: £1350-£1650 PM depending on experience

· Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-1 basis with a child with complex behaviours. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of this child by providing individualized educational and behavioural interventions.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioural plans for the child in collaboration with parents, caregivers, and other professionals.

Assess and monitor the child's progress towards achieving their educational and behavioural goals and make necessary adjustments to their plans.

Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to cater to the child's individual learning needs and styles.

Provide a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for the child, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Work closely with the child's parents/caregivers, providing regular updates on progress, and offering support and guidance where needed.

Collaborate with other professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to the child's education and care.

Keep up to date with the latest research and best practices in SEN education and behavioural interventions.

Requirements:

A relevant qualification in Education or a related field.

A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children with complex behaviours and special needs, preferably in a 1-1 setting.

Strong knowledge of evidence-based educational and behavioural interventions for children with special needs, including strategies for emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social skills development.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and other professionals.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and be flexible in adapting to changing circumstances.

Experience with assistive technology and alternative communication systems is desirable.
