B22 Hip Fracture ward.

Ward Manager Sarah Eastwood has an equally skilled and dedicated team of staff providing a service to patients who have sustained hip injuries including traumatic or pathological fractures. We provide data to the National Hip Fracture Database which has improved the service that our patients receive. We work closely with our multidisciplinary colleagues form Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics, fracture clinic, plaster room and the emergency department in order to ensure we provide Safe Personal and Effective care for all our patients.

Trauma and Orthopaedics

Our Service at Royal Blackburn Hospital, consists of a 23 bedded dedicated hip fracture ward (B22) and a 23 bedded adult trauma ward (B24) We have a dedicated Trauma team and fracture clinic outpatient service all supported by 16 orthopaedic trauma consultant’s and 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioner’s.

Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care and/or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes. Carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and demonstrate procedures to and supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff.
