Position Overview & Specifications
As a Dispatcher/Planner you will be providing a vital service as a liaison between our ambulance control centre, our operational staff, patients and Health Care Professionals.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a knowledgeable team and we are looking for a motivated, logical thinking, caring, innovative and enthusiastic person to join us.
We are looking for someone to work full-time across a flexible, variable shift pattern.
The shift pattern is between 07:00 - 19:00 and will include bank holidays and weekend working so flexibility is really important.
You will be working within the South West Control Room Hub, dealing with BGSW (Banes, Gloucestershire, Swindon, Wiltshire), Somerset & BNSSG (Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire). A good geographical knowledge of the region is essential. Previous experience of working within a Patient Transport Service control room or similar environment is preferable.
Your duties as a Planner and Dispatcher will include:
- Planning and controlling of daily ambulance journeys transporting medically eligible patients to and from NHS healthcare facilities.
- Controlling a complex operation consisting of over 150 ambulances delivering 1000+ patient journeys per day.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Experience of working in similar transport control/dispatcher environment, using logistical and planning skills
- Be familiar with computerised route planning software
- Good telephone manner
- Be customer service focused and able to effectively handle sensitive situations
- Have a good geographic knowledge of the areas
- Be able to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to take initiative
- Working effectively as a part of the team
