The Council on Geostrategy is Britain’s newest geopolitical think tank. We are an independent non-profit organisation situated in the heart of Westminster. We focus on an international environment increasingly defined by geopolitical competition and the environmental crisis.

We focus on geopolitics and environmental security, as well as ways to strengthen the scientific, technological and industrial base and commercial prowess of the United Kingdom and other free and open countries.
The Council on Geostrategy is looking to appoint a Senior Research Fellow to lead a new project focused on Britain’s national powerbase (economy, science and technology, including green technology) and science and technological leadership, as well as efforts to green the economy.

Role:

The Council on Geostrategy seeks to appoint a highly motivated, well-organised Senior Research Fellow with excellent research skills to our growing team. The successful applicant will hold a keen interest and expertise in one or more of the areas of science and technology, industry and infrastructure, the green agenda and/or environmental security. They will also have experience in conducting research and confidence while speaking in public. The ideal candidate will also have a track record in publishing their research and securing research funding.

The Senior Research Fellow will be an integral part of the team, working hand-in-hand with the Director of Research and other colleagues to produce, promote and disseminate their research and expertise to key stakeholders in Westminster, Whitehall and the wider public.

Tasks:

  • Identifying emerging research opportunities and undertaking research within areas as defined by the Director of Research;
  • Providing media commentary and articles for newspapers, magazines, journals and other similar publications;
  • Engaging with the research communities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere;
  • Representing the Council on Geostrategy at relevant public events;
  • Any other appropriate tasks as set by the Director of Research.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Political Economy, Green Technology, Environmental Science, or equivalent field;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • A keen interest in science and technology, industry and infrastructure, environmental security, international trade, and geopolitics;
  • Team worker with a proactive inclination and positive attitude;
  • Supportive of the Council on Geostrategy’s vision and mission.

Salary: £40,000 (gross) per annum
