Specialist MSK Physiotherapist (Band 6)

Full Time – Permanent

** £1,500 Signing on Bonus **

We have an opportunity for a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist to join the existing physiotherapy team. The successful applicant also has the opportunity to develop their skills in hand therapy with our specialist hand therapist.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern and will involve some travel between sites.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • We are developing an exciting career development pathway for experienced MSK Physiotherapists to help shape the future of the service and develop their clinical skills. We are looking for clinicians to be involved in Physiotherapy clinics (often involving complex cases), develop First contact and advanced practitioner skills; triage services, GP clinics, shared decision making and rehabilitation groups.
  • For the right candidate there are opportunities to develop towards Extended scope roles. We can support your development with in-house CDP through our MSK academy and funding for relevant courses.
  • You will be part of a forward thinking and dynamic team, the role would be suited to someone with a passion for MSK and a keenness to push boundaries and challenge the ‘norm’.
  • Our Physiotherapists are currently involved in developing new and innovative pathways for Chronic conditions such as back pain and osteoarthritis.
  • We also run a ‘Shared decision making’ service where our experienced clinicians help patients make decisions about their healthcare options. This is to ensure patients are able to make informed choices about their care and are aware of all the options available to them.
  • Physiotherapy degree
    Minimum of 3 years post qualification Physiotherapy experience (2 years of these in MSK speciality.)

Duties of this role include:

  • To undertake comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of patients including those with a variety of simple to complex presentations.
  • To deliver the service on a face-to-face assessment and treatment basis and, where necessary, refer onward. The post holder is expected to carry out appropriate clinical risk assessment in clinic settings.
  • To participate in the delivery of “Physioline” telephone based assessment and advice service, alongside clinic based work.
  • To work as an autonomous practitioner utilising analytical skills to form an accurate diagnosis and inform patients of realistic rehabilitation prognosis and future prospects with respect to work, sport, function etc.
  • To identify clinical problems and use clinical reasoning skills to establish patient-centred goals and draw up treatment plans utilising a wide range of treatment skills and options; seeking clinical guidance or second opinion as clinically indicated.
  • To continually reassess and evaluate treatment outcomes to facilitate appropriate discharge or onward referral of patients.
  • To communicate effectively with patients of all ages, taking into consideration their mental health and psychological effects of pain, trauma, injury etc or dementia, hearing and visual impairments, aggressiveness and a history of alcohol/drug abuse.
  • To keep up-to-date with clinical protocols, guidelines, pathways and new trends, developments and research for the benefit of clinical practice.
