We have a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice Laboratory Scientist to join the PR&D department at our site. The successful candidate will undertake a Laboratory Scientist Degree Apprenticeship through the University whilst assisting all Process Research and Development activities undertaken by Project Chemists and other departmental team members. In particular they will assist in producing results to the required quality as directed and ensure upkeep of laboratories to maintain a safe & clean working environment.
Main duties and Responsibilities
- To work under the supervision of a Project Chemist assisting in the completion of projects
- To work under supervision in a laboratory environment to establish familiarity with concepts and procedures
- To position does not allow the individual commencement of work activities without prior instruction or guidance, until such time that the job holder’s direct line manager/mentor gives such permission
- To ensure all documentation is complete as instructed and written in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate records of all work carried out
- To present reports, both written and verbal, when required, to line manager/mentor or other department members
- To maintain high levels of personal safety and where uncertain request guidance prior to commencement
- To ensure compliance to Standard Operating Procedures active in the department at the time
- To work in a clean, safe and tidy manner adhering to company policy on 5S
- To assist in maintaining an organised laboratory
- To ensure completion of external course work requirements
- To expand own understanding of current practices and relevant scientific progress pertinent to the practice of chemistry
Candidate Profile:
- Qualified to A-Level standard in suitable subjects or have a minimum of 200 UCAS points for enrolment on to a Degree Apprenticeship programme
