Position Overview & Specifications

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new Social Media and Engagement Specialist to join our CEG Digitial division, part of Cambridge Education Group.

The role is on a full-time, permanent basis. The role can be based in Cambridge or Newcastle, United Kingdom.

The Social Media & Engagement Specialist will manage the creation and execution of social media plans. The main aim will be to increase awareness of each of the University’s brands we partner with and importantly, increase audience engagement across a range of social platforms and outlets. The role will also report on the effectiveness of activities undertaken.


Additionally, the role will support the Director of Content and Communications in wider PR initiatives, engagements and interactions for both our partners and CEG Digital itself.


You will be a creative multi-tasker who is comfortable in contributing to online and in person conversations and will always be looking for opportunities. You’ll need to be happy to interact with the wider internal teams as well as key academics and professional staff at Universities we work with. You will also need to be able to use both social listening and analytics tools.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a monthly social media plan for each University brand to ensure a consistent and timely flow of content that aligns with business goals and objectives
  • Create, curate and publish high-quality content on a variety of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Work alongside the creative team to create strong content for use on social channels
  • Collaborate with cross- functional teams to develop campaigns that support key launches, events and other marketing initiatives

Key person specification:

  • Experience of planning and managing social media campaigns
  • Expertise in managing multiple social media platforms
  • Knowledge and experience of traditional and digital marketing channels
  • Expertise with social listening and community management tools
  • Working knowledge and understanding of baseline online marketing with an interest and ability to grasp new trends in digital technologie
  • Ability to deliver creative content ideas
  • Proven multitasker, executor and analyst
  • Ability to negotiate efficiently and effectively and manage people’s expectations in high
  • pressure environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to convey messages and tell stories that make connections with
  • Ability to work efficiently with multiple stakeholders both as a team and under own
