Biomass Operative / Boiler Plant Operator who has the ability to operate machinery with some mechanical experience with good judgement and decision-making skills to identify and rectify abnormalities related to maintenance and operations of boiler equipment is required for a well-established company based in Brierley, Herefordshire.

SALARY: £28,103 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Brierley, Herefordshire (near Leominster)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent

WORKING HOURS: The hours for this position will vary but will not exceed 48 hours averaged over a 17-week period. Working days will be based on 4-on 4-off rota basis,

12hrs/day shifts (7am – 7pm)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Biomass Operative / Boiler Plant Operator who has the ability to operate machinery with some mechanical experience with good judgement and decision-making skills to identify and rectify abnormalities related to maintenance and operations of boiler equipment.

Working as a Biomass Operative / Boiler Plant Operator you will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and management of biomass boilers including efficient and safe operations, environmental compliance, and contribution in delivering business performance targets in line with annual budget commitments.

As a Biomass Operative / Boiler Plant Operator you will ensure that operation and maintenance of the biomass boiler is in such way that fuel is always present within the receptor, including, other routines, but not limited to: conduction of regular maintenance and repair operations, effective responsiveness to emergency situations, and provision of support to any internal and external maintenance contractors.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Biomass Operative / Boiler Plant Operator will include:

Physical management of chip stockpiles using the telehandler / loading shovel

Using the telehandler / loading shovel to load wood fuel into the boiler receptor

Conducting daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc maintenance operations on the boiler and associated plant and equipment (pumps, valves, fuel and emissions cleaning equipment, pipework, etc.)

Being fully conversant with the boiler control system, and being able to make and being responsible for any necessary adjustments to its basic operating parameters without supervision

Assisting in designing and being responsible for implementing a predictive and preventative maintenance protocol

Boiler operation and maintenance targets are delivered. All required maintenance and operations are completed to the company’s and statutory standards, adhering to the correct techniques and procedures

Constant liaison with Biomass Production and Maintenance Managers

All records and maintenance logbook are kept up-to-date

Ensure that bio-mass facilities and equipment are maintained to achieve maximum efficiency in compliance with all Health & Safety Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Previous Mechanical experience

Ability to operate machinery

Experience of fault finding

Basic understanding of PLC control systems

FLT / Telescopic qualification or ability to undertake training
