Position Overview & Specifications

The Edinburgh Food Festival (EFF) is a vital part of the Assembly Festival portfolio, becoming a much-anticipated part of the summer festival calendar in Edinburgh and beyond. The role of producer ensures the successful delivery of the event with through curation, production, budget monitoring and a further emphasis on the production planning, operation and delivery of the festival in July.

Edinburgh Food Festival dates 2023 – Friday 21st July – Sunday 30th July

Role and Responsibilities

General
  • Provide support to the Operations Director on issues relating to Food & Concessions, both internal and external where required
  • Liaise with the General Manager & Operations Director re. budgets and major creative decisions
  • Liaise with Assembly Comms Dept re major website and marketing decisions
  • Liaise with All Depts, Programming, Box Office, Front of House team, Venues, Production, Operations, Comms about the programme development, changes to Site Plan and key messaging
  • To undertake any additional tasks, including occasional evening and weekend work, that may from time to time be reasonably required (Operations, Catering, Bars)
  • Work with the Finance department to accurately monitor sales, commission, purchases and other budgetary considerations in a timely fashion

Event’s Content Booking
  • Respond to all enquiries made to EFF
  • Carefully curate a balanced programme of relevant events, demonstrations & workshops
  • Research, liaise and confirm bookings with participating talent, agreeing on fees, needs and requirements and negotiating and finalising contracts with agents, acting as the lead contact with event participants

Food Producer Curation
  • Research around Scotland for exciting and appropriate food producers & street food
  • Develop relationships with event organisers & food producers across Scotland to benefit the Festival
  • Balance the food offering with Assembly’s Fringe Food & Drink output, in communication with Head of Bars, Food Operations Manager and Operations Director.
  • Ensure no Sponsorship offering conflicts with any existing sponsors – liaising with the General Manager and Operations Director to ensure this
  • Manage application process in conjunction with the Operations Director

Marketing, PR & Social Media
  • Communicate the Marketing Goals for the Festival to all producers to ensure participation in the campaign
  • Ascertain any relevant upcoming news, announcements & products from producers which could be mutually beneficially promoted
  • Liaise with the Festivals dedicated PR in conjunction with the Head of Marketing.
  • In conjunction with the Assembly Marketing team, support relevant social media platforms including content development
  • Work with the Assembly senior team to develop campaign and message for 2023
  • In conjunction with the marketing team, liaise and work with relevant media partners (I.E. The List)
  • Identify required design work and distribution and liaise with Marketing team to generate.
  • Ensure content on all platforms are accurate and up to date.

Rate of Pay: Pro-rata annual salary of £32,000 p.a.

Fixed contract: April 2023 – 31st July 2023

Part time work during April and May 2023 as agreed, full time through June and July. Evening and weekend work will be required during the Festival delivery period.

Location: The position can be flexible through planning period, though will require time in Edinburgh in the lead up to and during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Home working and flexible working patterns may be considered.
