JOB PURPOSE

  • Lead the Lab team to ensure quality is promoted both internally and externally and all standards and customer requirements are met.

JOB DIMENSIONS & SCOPE

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Take responsibility for decisions around releasing product to customers and guide production operators in quality based decision making
  • Responsible for management of the QC lab team and rota ensuring all shifts are covered including arranging overtime
  • Interaction with operations leaders to raise and manage quality investigations and communication
  • Own lab systems and processes including leading improvements in QC
  • Manage the training and induction of all QC staff
  • Responsibility for calibration and verification of testing equipment
  • Carry out quality testing to support the QC technicians when needed
  • Management of retained samples and collation for non-conformances
  • Manage release of customer products on completion of QC testing
  • Communicate details of complaints to operating teams and ensure that corrective actions are maintained
  • Undertaking internal audits where necessary

  • Formal Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience working in a 24 hour manufacturing environment
  • Experience carrying out quality control testing or lab activities
  • Experience of root cause analysis / quality tools and techniques
  • Experience leading a small team in a 24 hour environment
  • Able to work on their own initiative and within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to plan effectively and organize daily tasks
  • Ability to challenge constructively and positively champion quality
  • Ability to assist in quality investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
