Position Overview & Specifications

Job Title: Mechanical/ Electrical Fitter
Salary: £30,000- £33,000 per annum dependent upon experience
Location: Winsford, Cheshire

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global aerospace and defence companies as a Mechanical/ Electrical Fitter. This role will be based at their site in Winsford, Cheshire and is a permanent position.

Their product portfolio powers more than 35 types of commercial aircraft and more than 16,000 engines in-service around the world.
The role is in their Land/ Defence business who provide extensive managed services and OE equipment to military based customers with highly demanding requirements. This includes MRO work covering a range of (diesel engine) power generation and electrical power distribution products.
The Mechanical/ Electrical Fitter will perform a variety of tasks related to the delivery and MRO of the company’s power generation, electrical power management & distribution systems.
Please note that a level of overtime working would be required to assist in the management of peak capacity loadings and customer demands.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical work in accordance with processes and instructions provided, including the disassembly of mechanical equipment, thorough cleaning, inspection, assembly, and completion of related documentation.
  • Work on electrical assemblies & cables in accordance with processes and instructions provided, including the disassembly of electrical equipment, thorough cleaning, basic functional testing, inspection, assembly, and completion of related documentation.
o Note: Training will be provided for all aspects of the role.
  • Full co-operation with the production team leader, assigned lead fitter or improvement champion to carry out any tasks necessary to fulfil customer requirements with regards to quality, delivery, cost. Participate in maintaining high standards of housekeeping and shop floor efficiency, and adhere to all health, safety & environmental requirements.

About You:

  • A recognised mechanical/electrical based apprenticeship as a fitter/assembler, mechanic, or other equivalent education and experience. Documentation of relevant and extensive experience may compensate for lack of education.
  • Experience with diesel engine power generation and electrical distribution products would be an advantage.
  • Interest in repair and service orientated customer work and having a “can-do attitude”.
  • You must demonstrate an ability to be work within a team orientated environment and collaborate across multiple functions.
  • A level of overtime working would be required to assist in the management of peak capacity loadings and customer demands.
