PLEASE NOTE THAT ACTIONAID UK WILL REVIEW, SHORTLIST AND INTERVIEW CANDIDATES PRIOR TO THE CLOSING DATE SO WE ENCOURAGE ALL CANDIDATES TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

ActionAid UK is a member of the ActionAid Federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty.

As part of the ActionAid Federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

Please note: We are based in London and have offices in Farringdon and Somerset. We are currently piloting a hybrid working model and you can agree the days you work at home with your manager, however, you are expected to attend team meetings and other events in-person, and as requested. Also bear in mind the rules around hybrid working may change in the new year when the pilot ends.

Are you an exceptional writer and editor, equally confident in producing content for digital and print? Are you looking to use your skills to make a difference? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

At ActionAid, we stand with marginalised women and girls in the fight against poverty, and we’re looking for a talented wordsmith to help raise our profile and deepen engagement with our supporters. As our Writer/Editor, you will produce imaginative and informed copy tailored to a range of audiences and channels. You will write content ranging from reports and key messages to fundraising appeals and ad copy, with a strong instinct for storytelling running through everything that you do. You will also work with colleagues across the organisation, providing expert editorial support and guidance. As part of the Brand and Creative Content team, you will help ensure that all communications are on brand and high quality. Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys developing creative ideas as part of a team and can also spot a typo at 100 paces. A strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail, they will have a flair for words and a strong affinity with our cause. #

To excel in this role, you need to be enthusiastic, proactive and always have an eye on your deadlines. You will have well-developed interpersonal skills and a demonstrable ability to manage your time and projects.

If you have this skill set, along with a passion to work within an organisation committed to changing the lives of women and girls living in poverty, this may be the role for you. ActionAid brings an anti-racist, feminist perspective to the way women and girls living in poverty are represented, therefore you need to be committed to our anti-racist principles.

To complete your application for this role, we would like to see evidence of your writing ability. Please link to three examples of your work: these could be blogs, book cover copy, marketing copy, reports, articles or other formats.

ActionAid is committed to supporting flexible working. If you would like to discuss flexible working options, including the possibility of a job share for this role, there will be space to do so during the interview process.

We are committed to continually improving the diversity of our workforce and therefore encourage applications from people of colour, the LGBTQI+ community - including the trans community, and those with a disability.
